Primary Responsibilities

The primary duties of this position include all aspects of engineering for solid waste facilities and environmental projects such as landfills, recycling facilities, remediation sites, and waste transfer stations. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to leverage their skills on a variety of infrastructure projects. This position requires a versatile professional that is eager to learn and values the opportunity for professional development through a variety of project assignments.

In the role of Civil/Environmental EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to assist Project Managers/Project Engineers with:

Completing site evaluations, soil reports, grading plans, design details, landfill gas, sediment soil and groundwater sampling, geologic logging of borings, storm water modeling and conduct engineering analysis and calculations for permitting, permit compliance, solid waste and environmental feasibility studies, prepare reports, construction drawings and specifications and construction management.

  • Complete groundwater sampling including coordination with laboratories, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare environmental permit documents on behalf of clients for regulatory agency compliance, coordinate and complete permitting project.
  • Work with applicable regulators on environmental compliance.
  • Performing site visits and prepares documents for public and private clients for a broad range of environmental compliance issues.
  • Performing overall site layout, grading, utility layout and drainage.
  • Performing routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Performing administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects
  • Work both independently on small projects and as part of larger project teams to assist senior personnel

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel)
  • Self-starter with excellent writing, comprehension, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Will require occasional travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year general Civil/Environmental experience with an emphasis on environmental compliance, design, permitting, and construction preferred
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" (or "Designer) and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Prior experience with field work and environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation is a plus
  • Preference given to local candidates
