Overview

Interstates is seeking a Virtual Design Construction Drafter to join our Design Services Team. The Traveling Virtual Design and Construction Drafter (VDC Drafter) is responsible for creating models and/or drawing sets using the standards that Interstates has established. A VDC Drafter collaborates with others to learn best practices and incorporates design decisions into deliverables. While onsite, you will get to interact directly with the construction team, contractors, and clients.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize Revit for Building Information Management models to create drawing sets per established standards
  • Adapt to learn tool functionality by researching and utilizing resources available
  • Regularly learns new methods and efficiencies by collaborating with others
  • Makes changes to BIM models or drawing sets under direction of team members on and off site
  • Communicate effectively using virtual and in person collaboration tools across the internal team
  • Work alongside fellow team members to collaborate effectively with external teams
  • Able to understand model/scope changes and produce deliverables accordingly
  • Understand and follow established standard project work-flows
  • Perform self-check and correct major mistakes and deviation from established standards
  • Complete peer reviews for other team members by reviewing work against the established standards
  • Support on site construction activities to optimize work-flow of designs produced
  • Work directly with our manufacturing team to deliver constructible design and improve work-flow
  • Prioritize tasks received on site and delegate to others as needed

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides suggestions for standards, tool, and process innovations and improvements
  • 3D scanning and registration of scans into models
  • Operate Trimble XYZ equipment on site locating points for installs and locate points for as-builts
  • Extract Trimble XYZ points from the model and load as-built points into the model

Additional Information: The pay range for this position is $24.23/hr- $30.29/hr + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or applicable associate degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical college. Preferred 1-2 years of experience; or a combination or education and experience.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position is part of our Omaha team and daily travel to the job-site will be required. Future project opportunities may require additional travel and/or relocation.
