IES Commercial, Inc. - Commercial & Industrial Division, seeking a part-time Pre-Fab Shop Trainee (Minor Only-Non HS Graduate) participating in School-To-Work Program via participating High School in San Antonio, TX. Not eligible for limited benefits until attainment of 18th birthday.
Job Summary
- Receive/verify materials, and package product for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling).
- Manual load and unload of materials and products.
- Read, learn, and understand prefabrication prints.
- Inspect material quality, ensure no damaged material accepted or damaged products sent out.
- Keep shop clean and organized daily.
- Check, clean, inspect all tools and non-power driven equipment upon return/prior to disbursing.
- Simple manual conduit bending and assembly.
- Assist pre-fab crew with wire splicing and connections to lugs, terminals, circuit breakers, etc.
- Assist pre-fab crew with data, communication, power outlet box, and stub-up assembly.
- Assist pre-fab crew with assembly of power, lighting, and equipment whips.
- Assist pre-fab crew with lighting fixture assembly and preparation.
- Prepare wiring for light fixtures and assist pre-fab crew with install.
- Manual assembly of wire way, conduit, and cable tray rack.
- Assist pre-fab crew with assembly of temporary construction power skids, panel boards, spider-boxes and lighting, underground conduit duct-banks, deck boxes and flexible conduit assemblies, control device enclosures, Strut Racks and stands.
- Non-power-driven cutting and assembly of typical-unit residential "roping" materials.
- Assist pre-fab crew with pre-testing and labeling.
- Comply with all company safety policies and safe work practices.
- Complete additional non-construction related activities/tasks as directed by immediate supervisor.
- PROHIBITED JOB ACTIVITIES AND TASKS:
- Operating a motor vehicle.
- Not wearing a seatbelt as a passenger in a motor vehicle operated by an IES Authorized Driver.
- Operating or assisting in the operation of any light power-driven machinery including pallet jacks, portable power-driven machinery such as drills/sanders, power-driven lawn mowers or cutters, welding, and hoisting apparatus; excluding office administration machines, vacuum cleaners.
- Using a ladder more than six (6) feet high, any scaffold, or their substitutes.
- Entering IES construction job site unescorted by an IES Safety Manager (without General Contractor approval) and/or without advance written parent/guardian and IES Safety Manager approval.
Qualifications
- Enrollment as High School student with good attendance record and passing grades.
- OSHA 10 Certification or ability to obtain.
- Ability to enroll in a DOL-registered Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program.
- Ability to follow both oral and written directives.
- Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug test.
